Penelope received her bachelors degree from St. John's
University, and is currently a graduate
student at the
University of Pittsburgh and
senior researcher at the
Ford Institute for Human Security. She
will complete her
masters degree in International Development
in May
2008,
with a focus on human rights, and has dedicated a
large portion of her studies to the issues surrounding the
use of children in warfare. Born in Texas, Penelope has
spent several years in many different parts of the world,
including Africa, Germany, Mexico, and Great Britain.
She has an avid interest in international issues, politics,
public health, global poverty, and most any humanitarian
issue. Penelope resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with
her husband, Caleb.
                                                                        
Penelope has spend significant time in Ghana at the
Buduburam Refugee Camp where she has worked with
former child soldiers of the Liberian Civil War in an
effort to collect vital information on the use of children in
warfare and to gain further insight to the long term
effects of warfare on children used in combat. She now
works in cooperation with several organizations to
provide relief to veteran child soldiers worldwide.

Penelope will be in Ghana from 1/10/08 through 1/27/08 at the Buduburam Refugee Camp outside Accra, in an effort
to finalize arrangements with local organizations for the disbursement of resources to over 100 former child soldiers of
the Liberian Civil Wars as part of the mission of the
Child Soldiers Reintegration Fund.
